Niji no Kanata e! Shoujo Diana Monogatari
I guess nobody did see this coming. Me neither. Yet after Kenny Lauderdale’s since redacted short notice video I seeked it out just to watch it. And God, what an awful mess was the original version. So I decided to make it into a mid-tier VHS-encode by quality. I think I kinda achieved that. There was some cropping, sharpening, deblocking, color correction and other stuff beside the normalization of resolution. I could have done better, I guess…
On the other what the actual thrown goat is this? In 1986, Princess Diana visited Japan and the island nation was all over the top for this. They even pulled this etwa 24 minutes long animation in 2 months about the childhood of Diana. But boy, what a mess is this. Unnecessary time jumps, lack of concrete story arc and some factual errors (my favourite one is when her guinea pig, Peanuts is referred as hamster) spiced with weightless scenes about how her parents got divorced, how did she felt about it, what was her confrontation with Raine or how she met Crown Prince Charles…
